About Me

Hi and welcome to Your Narrative! I am Denise Barnes. A former teacher turned psychology geek!

The reason I wanted to train as a coach is simple. If my life has taught me one thing, it is who has time to look back and dwell? I certainly haven’t. I need to push on. Onwards and upwards. Dust yourself off and move forwards. This isn’t to say we can’t acknowledge the struggles and difficult times, of course, we need to! We must show compassion and kindness for ourselves. Most of us have no choice but to get on with things.

My coaching journey with my own coach made me appreciate the power of coaching. Sometimes after a session, I would sit back gobsmacked going, “How on earth did that just happen???”.
I began to appreciate the power of a question and how this can shift your thinking.

My challenge for you is to think about what ‘getting on with things’ or what coping looks like. How can we maximise our growth and happiness by making small changes?

"We only have a short time on this planet. You want to become the person that you were born to be. Don’t waste your time on all the junk of life. Spend your precious hours doing what will bring out the real you. The brilliant passionate you, that’s ready to contribute to something meaningful into this world." - joe
